May Consumer Filings 37% More than 2008


According to statistics published by the National Bankruptcy Research Center, bankruptcy filings in May 2009 increased 37% over May 2008.  May 2009 consumer filings totaled 125,618.  April 2009 filings totaled 124,838.  Chapter 13 filings made up roughly 27% of all consumer filings, slightly above the April rate.
